VU Meter
Displays RMS and peak energy in decibels, with optional peak hold behavior.
Detailed explanation
Displays RMS and peak energy in decibels, with optional peak hold behavior.
The VU Meter helps you understand how loud a signal really is over time. It shows both RMS and peak levels and color-codes the meter zones to make overloads easy to spot.
To use it, connect the signal you want to measure into VU Meter, start audio, then watch the RMS and peak readouts while adjusting Gain, compression, limiting, or Output staging.
This is especially valuable when testing distortion, limiting, and dense layered patches where output level can change quickly.
What to know
- • Shows both RMS and peak readings instead of only a single meter value.
- • Peak hold mode makes fast spikes easier to inspect.
- • A strong companion for dynamic processors and the final mix stage.
Key controls
Peak Hold
Keep transient peaks visible for easier reading.
Signal Input
Monitor any point in the graph, not only the final output.
