Low Pass
Removes high-frequency content and is one of the most musical motion tools in the patching workflow.
Detailed explanation
Removes high-frequency content and is one of the most musical motion tools in the patching workflow.
The Low Pass filter is useful for darkening sounds, smoothing harsh tops, or building classic subtractive sweeps. It often becomes one of the most expressive nodes when automated or LFO-modulated.
To use it, insert Low Pass after a bright source or effect, lower Frequency until the tone darkens, then adjust Q for a softer or more resonant sweep.
On brighter sources such as FM or distortion-heavy chains, it is especially effective for restoring focus and movement.
What to know
- • A core subtractive synthesis and tone-shaping tool.
- • Pairs extremely well with envelopes and LFOs.
- • Useful for taming harshness after bright sound design stages.
Key controls
Frequency
Lower the cutoff to darken the signal.
Q / Resonance
Add emphasis near the cutoff for more character.
