Play Your First Patch

Once your first patch is wired, you can audition it live from the computer keyboard, the inline piano, an external MIDI controller, or sequenced playback.

Detailed explanation
Once your first patch is wired, you can audition it live from the computer keyboard, the inline piano, an external MIDI controller, or sequenced playback.

After starting audio and selecting the playable node path, AudioFlow lets you trigger the patch immediately without leaving the editor. This is the fastest way to confirm that your Oscillator -> Gain -> Output chain is behaving as expected.

For keyboard play, select the oscillator-style source or a group that contains it, start audio, then press the mapped typing keys. For mouse play, switch the lower workspace to piano mode and click the inline piano keys.

You can perform notes from the computer keyboard, click notes on the inline piano in the lower workspace, use an external MIDI controller, or move into the sequencer for timeline-based playback once you want repeatable phrases.

What to know
  • Computer keyboard play is ideal for quick tests while patching.
  • The inline piano gives you a mouse-friendly way to audition notes in the current session.
  • External MIDI note input and pitch bend are supported for more expressive live play.
  • Sequencer playback becomes the reusable option once you start recording or arranging regions.
Key controls

Computer Keyboard

Use the mapped typing keys for immediate note input while staying focused on the graph.

Inline Piano

Play notes directly from the lower workspace when you want a visible keyboard under the patch.

External MIDI

Use a connected controller for note velocity, pitch bend, and a more instrument-like feel.
